Have you ever smelled the resin or essential oil of this majestic tree, Breu Branco (Protium
heptaphyllum)?
The heart takes a step forward, the bodies align and you feel whole.
The essential being surfaces in every cell of the body and lights up. Reconnection with your spiritual Self, bringing calm, peace and relief from anxiety and fear. Breu branco essential oil helps us to release what no longer makes sense in our lives.
Breu branco is a resin exuded from the trunk of trees of the Burseracea family, the same family
as Frankincense but we find them in the Amazon and also in the Brazilian cerrado region.
This tree is considered sacred by indigenous peoples of our country. They use it to treat a variety of ailments, from wound healing to headaches and breathing problems, as well as use in
tribal ceremonies.
Many factors influence the production of an essential oil; the environment the plant lived in, the
light it absorbed, the water that was used in the distillation (when it is steam), the soil, the
harvest, the drying, the people involved in the distillation.
After many years of experimenting with Australian tea tree oils, for example, a few years ago we started using an oil from a student, who distills in a place less than 200 km from Campinas, here in Brazil. And for the first time the word mountain appeared in the experiences (she plants Tea tree in a mountain region).
Walking through the geomorphological surroundings, then, a reflection: what differentiates our Brazilian Breu Branco oil from its desert cousin, Frankincense? Both are from the same botanical family; chemically, in both, monoterpenes predominate. In experiences with Frankincense, students talk (and literature too) about spirituality, elevation, solitude, meditation, opening the third eye, and silence. In fact, both bring elevation, silence and lead us to what is essential.
However, Frankincense takes us to heaven, because the plant grows in the desert, where heavenly forces are strongly present. Breu Branco has more influence from the ground forces,
this completely changes the performance of the oil.
The tree grows in the forest, it has moisture, it is not alone like Frankincense. That’s why Breu invites us to live spirituality on Earth, on a daily basis, in relationships. It brings incredible clarity, breath, hope, silence, life, and leads the mind to the present. Sometimes we need Frankincense to go to heaven, to ask for help, to remember what we came here to do, but we come back to Earth with Breu Branco, allowing it to tune us to play our true music.
Just like plants, we are dialoguing with Heaven and Earth at all times and expressing our best through our heart.
